On September 25, 2023, at approximately 03:50 local time, N569JB, an Airbus A320-232, operating as scheduled flight 1256 from Guayaquil, Ecuador (GYE) to Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL) experienced severe turbulence, south-south-west of Jamaica, resulting in several reported injuries. According to the flight crew, they flew into an isolated thunderstorm cell that was not showing on radar, and there was no other weather or lightning in the vicinity. The flight continued to FLL, and after an uneventful landing, was met by emergency medical service (EMS).
