C-GFBW was conducting a local visual flight rules (VFR) flight in Sept-iles (CYZV), QC with one pilot and one passenger on board. While coming back to land, the helicopter struck the frozen surface at the mouth of the Rivière des Rapides, 8 NM West of CYZV.
