1 - History of the flight
The pilot[1], accompanied by a passenger, took off from Sion aerodrome (Switzerland) bound for Annecy aerodrome. During the landing run with a headwind[2] on runway 22, the pilot noticed that the aircraft was veering to the right. He countered the movement by applying left rudder. He thought that he probably applied the left brake[3] at the same time. The aircraft made a ground loop to the left, during which the right main landing gear folded under the fuselage. The aircraft then came to a stop on the runway.
2 – Additional information
The pilot, co-owner of the aircraft, held a commercial pilot licence CPL(A) issued by the Swiss authorities. On the day of the occurrence, he had logged around 800 flight hours. The aircraft is a two-seater tandem aircraft with conventional landing gear and high wings.
