After taking off from Caracas bound for Point-à-Pitre on 05 March 1968 at 23:27 and a normal flight, F-BLCJ's first communication with the Raizet tower was recorded at 00:29. The aircraft announced ‘level 90, vertical to your field in about a minute and a half’. Less than a minute later, having announced ‘we can see the airfield’, the pilot received clearance to carry out a visual approach. The Soufrière seismograph recorded the impact around two minutes later.
