1 - HISTORY OF THE FLIGHT
The pilot and a passenger took off from Reims Prunay aerodrome (Marne) for a flight under a VFR flight plan to Le Havre Octeville airport. The pilot made an approach for runway 22[1].
At touchdown, the indicated airspeed of the aircraft was 65 kt and the aircraft was configured for landing. The aircraft touched down hard on the runway. After vacating the runway and while taxiing to the parking area, the pilot heard noises coming from the nose wheel.
The nose wheel had broken and the firewall was damaged.
2 - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The 30-year-old pilot held a private pilot license PPL(A), a single engine piston class rating (SEP) and an instrument rating (IR) valid on the day of the accident.
On the day of the accident, he had logged a total of 242 flight hours, including 31 hours on type. He had logged 10 flight hours on type in the last 30 days.
The pilot reported that his landing had been harder than usual.
