1 History of the flight

The pilot, unaccompanied, departed from Dinan-Trélivan aerodrome (Côtes-d'Armor) bound for Brest-Bretagne airport where he landed on runway 25L[1]. The aeroplane touched down hard on the runway, bounced several times and then came to a halt on the runway. The nose gear ruptured and several of the propeller blades were damaged.

The 13:00 automatic METAR for Brest-Bretagne airport indicated the following conditions without any significant changes forecast in the two hours following the report:

  • wind from 200°, 13 kt;
  • CAVOK;
  • temperature 28°C;
  • QNH 1021 hPa.
