Accident to the Cirrus SR22 registered N19BV on 16/05/2016 at Ailly sur Somme (Somme)
Diminution de la puissance moteur en croisière, déclenchement du parachute de secours, collision avec le sol
The pilot, accompanied by his wife, took off from Belle-Ile-en-Mer (Morbihan) for a VFR flight bound for Lille.
In cruise, a failure of the alternator led to a sudden reduction in the electrical power supply voltage followed by the illumination of a warning light indicating a battery problem. The pilot decided to divert to Amiens then, due to a deterioration in climatic conditions, to carry out an emergency landing. A witness on the ground saw the aeroplane pass at a low height with the emergency parachute deployed.
The failure of the alternator was due to the thrust waster being incorrectly assembled in October 2011.
