Accident to the Pou du ciel identified 77IJ on 14/08/2023 à Fontet
Loss of control during approach, wing failure during a pull-up manoeuvre, collision with ground, fire
The pilot was making his first flight on the “Pou du ciel”, after completing fixed-wing microlight pilot training on Skyrangers. During the approach, the microlight suddenly adopted a nose-down attitude. The pilot most likely countered this nose-down attitude by making a strong nose-up input, and the right wing failed due to overload. As a result, the pilot was unable to keep control of the microlight and avoid collision with the ground.
The investigation was unable to determine the reason why the microlight adopted a nose-down attitude during the approach. It is possible that the pilot was distracted and did not monitor
the path.
