Accident to the Sud Aviation SA342 registered YU-HPZ on 31/07/2020 at Jakovo (Investigation led by AIB / Serbia]

Preliminary data based on the notification from the Serbian authorities:

During the flight, the smoke appeared in the cockpit. Soon, after few seconds, the pilot received an indication of the problem with the propulsion (main alarm), after which the engine stopped working. The pilot directed the helicopter in the auto-rotation, notified air traffic control unit and declared “may-day”.

After the helicopter made contact with the ground, it made a turn and soon after stopped. Due to increased forces that acted on the propeller blades during the auto-rotation and during impact on the ground, propeller blade came into contact with the tail boom.
