Serious Incident to the Airbus A320 registered VT-JRT operated by Air Asia occured on 04/16/2017 at Varanasi [investigation led by AIB / India]

Preliminary data based on the notification from the local authorities:

Air Asia India, IAD768, A320 REG. VTJRT west bound flight from Bagdogra (VEBD) to VIDP was given descent to FL340 which she read back but she continued to descend passing through the level of IGO398, A320 opposite direction maintaining FL330. IGO398 reported traffic advisory (TA).The separation was reduced to less than 5nm.
