Serious incident to the ATR 72 registered 5R-EJA on 04/01/16 at Tamatave [Investigation led by AIB / Madagascar]

In cruise at FL080, the engine n°1 fire alarm was triggered. The engine was on fire and the crew applied the fire extinguishing procedure. The pilot diverted to land at Tamatave aerodrome, which is 8 minutes away flying on one engine.
