Serious incident to the ATR72 registered PK-GAD operated by Garuda Indonesia on 19/08/2023 near Karachi

Preliminary data based on the notification from the Pakistanese authorities:

At time 1030, when aircraft position was 10 NM of Karachi passing 4300 ft requested to maintain FL50 due technical problem in engine N°1. At time 1031 pilot initiated mayday call and reported damage to engine n°1. At time 1032 pilot reported switching off engine n°1, aircraft operation under control and requested vectors for ILS 25L. Aircraft vectored for ILS 25L and landed safely at 1043. At time 1202 pilot reported on freq 125.50 Mhz nature of technical issue one of the gear box of engine n°1 is broken.
