Director of the French civil aviation safety investigation authority (BEA) on 1st January 2014.
Pierre-Yves Huerre, General Engineer from the engineering school, Ponts, des Eaux et des Forêts is appointed Director of the French civil aviation safety investigation authority (BEA), for a period of five years, with effect from 1 January 2024.
He succeeds Rémi Jouty, who has retired after heading the BEA from 2014 to 2023.
Pierre-Yves Huerre has over twenty years' experience within the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC). He has held various cross-functional positions in the French Civil Aviation Safety Directorate (DSAC) and the French Air Navigation Service Provider (DSNA).
In the DSNA, he was Head of the Environment Mission between 2005 and 2008, Head of the North Air Navigation Service between 2008 and 2011 and Deputy Director for Planning and Strategy in Paris. In the DSAC, he was Director of the West DSAC between 2015 and 2018.
From 2018 until his appointment to the BEA, Pierre-Yves Huerre was Head of the Light and General Aviation & Helicopters Mission reporting to the Director General of the DGAC.
