Extraction
Before any data readout operation, an observation and risk evaluation phase is undertaken.
The component must be isolated and unsoldered. To limit the risk of data-loss, its temperature is carefully controlled throughout the process.
The raw data can then be downloaded from the memory using a reader designed for the needs of technical investigations.
These examinations require the use of tools specifically developed for the needs of the BEA.
Special cases:
1. Volatile Memories.
To preserve data, it is preferable to work on the component «in situ».
2. Damaged components
We go down to the level of the chip, where the data is stored.
A point test station is used to recreate the damaged electrical connections.
