Accident to the Airbus Helicopters EC120B registered F-HPIC on 02/03/2021 at Les Gets
Interruption de décollage oblique, atterrissage d'urgence, collision avec des obstacles, collision avec le sol
The pilot decided to undertake a yaw take-off from a HLS in the mountains, in an environment restricted by numerous obstacles and with a helicopter close to its maximum permissible weight, which offered a low power reserve for take-off.
After starting forward flight, the pilot quickly considered, on monitoring the FLI, that the available power would not allow him to clear the trees located in the path, and preferred to abort the takeoff. He reduced his speed and chose to turn right to make an emergency landing on the road. During the manoeuvre, he was unable to avoid the power line and a billboard located at the edge of the HLS. Shortly after, the helicopter struck the ground and rolled onto its right side.
