Preliminary data based on the notification from the Hong Kong authorities:

During the departure from Hong Kong the crew heard an audible engine surge, followed by the Electronic Centralised Aircraft Monitor (ECAM) alerting the crew to high vibration and low oil pressure on the No.1 engine.

The crew initiated an engine in-flight shut down, the aircraft returned to Hong Kong international airport.

During initial troubleshooting, metal debris was reported in the jetpipe and the result of boroscope inspection also confirmed one high pressure turbine blade fractured.
