Serious incident to the Pilatus PC12 registered LX-JFX operated by Jetfly on 20/10/21 near Brive-Souillac
Perte d'altitude et de vitesse lors du contournement d'une masse nuageuse, en descente
During the descent to the destination airport, the crew was surprised by the intensity of the turbulence upon exiting a cloud mass, for which the airborne weather radar was reporting weak precipitation. In order to ensure the comfort of the passengers, the co-pilot insisted that the captain (PF) avoid another cloud mass that she could see ahead of them. The captain did not initially want to change the path and continued the descent to the safe altitude of 3,000 ft, for which he had been given clearance. At the insistence of the co-pilot, when the aeroplane was very close to the cloud mass and approaching 3,000 ft, he disengaged the autopilot and turned suddenly. The stall warning sounded. The captain repositioned the wings horizontally and increased the engine power. During the manoeuvre, the aeroplane lost 550 ft and dropped below the safe altitude. The captain then reached the safe altitude again and continued the approach without further incident.
