Progress: 100%

During a flight from La Rochelle airport to Saint-Geours-de-Maremne microlight strip, the pilot lost control of the microlight. The investigation was unable to determine the reasons for this loss of control.

The results of the examinations carried out showed that during the flight, there may have been an outbreak of smoke in the cockpit due to an electrical short-circuit or to overheating of the lithium battery of the pilot’s cell phone. Such a situation may have hampered the pilot, or even caused pilot or passenger incapacitation, as both of them were suffering from heart trouble.
