At the beggining of the take-off run, with speed around 25/30 kt, the crew heard a loud bang coming from the right side of the aircraft and ENG 2 FAIL triggered on the ECAM. The captain rejected the take-off applying engine reverses and left wheel brake ; as a preventive measure, the ENGINE FIRE BUTTON 2 was activated. Later on, the captain requested to be escorted by the fire brigade to the parking stand with only Engine 1 operative. After the arrival at the parking stand, passengers and crew disembarked. After a visual inspection, extensive damages have been found on the low pressure turbine blades and metallic debris on the exhaust cone.
